  I want to thank all the officers who responded to the call from Walmart on 24 April 2017 as it pertained to my grandson who has autism, ADHD, verbal apraxia of childhood (doesn't have functional speech), and other medical issues. My grandson's behavior changed for the worse before we got into the store proper. Nothing I could say or do could prevent his downward spiral. He went into a major meltdown and there was next to nothing to be done except to prevent him from injuring himself or others in his path. He has no sense of danger, so I was really apprehensive he he took off running (perhaps out of the store was my thinking, into the hard downpour of rain, trying to find my husband who was in the car with our dog). As it happens, he didn't leave the store, but he was in a loud rage, crying, yelling, throwing things, etc. He was a toddler in a 14-year-old's body. I thank the police officers who arrived on scene and were gentle when they had to help medical personnel get my grandson in soft restraints to medicate him and to transport him to the ER. I was so relieved that no rough treated was meted out and that they realized he was a vulnerable special needs teen who couldn't verbalize what he was experiencing. I was too distraught to get anyone's name that day. So, my heartfelt thanks each of you.
